Course overview
Decoding Organizational Culture is a one-week applied micro-course on Edgar Schein's model of organizational culture. It teaches a single, practical skill: reading a culture as three linked levels rather than just the surface, and decoding the taken-for-granted assumptions that actually govern how an organization behaves. You choose one real culture you can observe in the opening lesson—your team, a firm you are joining, or an organization you are advising—and carry it through all six lessons, learning to read its artifacts without over-reading them, surface the values it espouses, infer the basic assumptions beneath, and test where those levels align and where they contradict. By the end of the week, you will have a defended analysis of what the culture actually is and what it would take to work with or against it.
