Put the Right Work in the Right Role: Job Analysis and Competency Frameworks

“I know a good one when I see one” is a decision no one else can see, verify, or repeat. Learn to define a role by its work—its purpose, outputs, and the behavior that separates strong performance—so you can hire and manage on evidence, not instinct.

Course overview
Put the Right Work in the Right Role is a one-week micro-course on job analysis and competency frameworks. It teaches how to define a genuine role based on work, supporting evidence-based recruitment and performance evaluation. In the first lesson, you choose a real role—managing, hiring, or assessing—and stay focused on it through all six lessons.

You learn to distinguish the role from the individual, analyze tasks into a clear statement of purpose, responsibilities, and outputs, and identify relevant knowledge, skills, and characteristics. You also learn to articulate behaviors that differentiate high performance, using behaviourally defined competencies with proficiency levels. By the course end, you will have a concise, defensible one-page role description that honestly addresses its limitations.
